I'd bet there's a hole in the trans pan right under here where they drill to release fluid. This is the 1-2 accumulator. If the damage is just the drill, you can swap your old one in no problem.
I'd look into doing a shift kit while you're there and I'm a fan of sonnax lube tube retainer while the pan's off.
If it isn't damage by the drill, I wouldn't touch this transmission unless you're doing a rebuild.
Also, just checking, this isn't the comp-g one we told you wouldn't work is it?
Shift Kit and sonnax lube tube retainer? The drill didbt damage it though. Anything else I should look into while I have it out?

The lube tube retainer goes on the other tubes and prevents them from pulling out. It's actually a fairly common problem. The retainer is cheap insurance. That and the shift kit should be good.

Wow, chunks!.. I dont have any chunks in mine but definitely sparkling dust fragments. Bad sign still?

Oh ok, I'll get on that than... Is it better to switch to an Aluminium Oil Pan?

Yeah. Still not a good sign especially with all the clutch mud. Too bad you don't live closer or I'd rebuild it for you! Keep the old trans pan since they drilled the jy one.
And not really any major advantage except no chance of it rusting out. Though I wouldn't bother personally. Its up to you!

The advantage is ... (go find my write up)
-it's structural so a block of wood under it when you swap engine mounts will never damage it.
-It's easier to swap bad engine mounts.
-It's less prone to leaking because it uses an engine sealant and not a gasket
-It never rusts
If yours isn't leaking.. maybe buy one and put it on your bucket list. Don't change a non-leaking pan though.
I'm not sure you want to use that trans. Scotty's ... the fluid had been changed out a few times in it's past. I'd bet that car has the full 112 or so on the same trans fluid.

I've seen the converters for W bodies be different from one vehicle to another. It wouldn't surprise me if they used it because of the comp g or something like that. Based on the sludge you found in the pan.. I don't think that trans has been treated too well.

Looks kinda like the clutch material off a band. From what you said WSTE and I were under the impression you pulled a transmission from a Comp G. If it wasn't a comp G, then all the better. We can stop worrying about that issue.
Based on that material in the filter, I wouldn't put that trans into a vehicle and expect it to work well or for long. Since it was in an accident you need to assume it was at least limping around. More to come once I pull the grains out of the beer boil pot and get it boiling.... please hold

Now..if we get you a manual.. would you want to rebuild the trans? maybe just do a quick/dirty clutch and band replacement?

Yeah, maybe 2/1 band.... Heard Tranny rebuild is quite a super challenging task. I'm up for the challenge. I'll need all the help I can get for sure otherwise, I'll take this tranny back and try to find a 03-05 Park Ave SC or Regal GS SC. Point me in the right direction

I was definitely thinking about the CompG trans but you guys, I think, said it wouldn't work. So I moved on ha. Here at the yard now trying to think what's the next best move.

If you did a quick and dirty rebuild with only clutches and bands.. it's not so bad. doing seals is where life sucks.

TEP? I'm a rook dont forget haha. I might end up just buying the whole rebuild kit and suck it up..... If I go this route. What do you guys think I should do, as far as which Tranny to Choose to rebuild.... My Tranny has 185K to my knowledge and the Yard Tranny has 160K.. You guys already seen the damage in mine and in the Yard Tranny... I have yet to take my Tranny out. But I guess I'll have to do that and take both apart to see what parts to keep...........
I dont know if small metal fragments in the filter is better than burnt out clutch bands???
I got those caps and tubes though

Agreed! The only "special" tools I use on my rebuild are these:
Amazon.com: SST-0015 - Universal Lip Seal Installer / Remover Transmission Tool: Automotive
Amazon.com: Lubegard 19250 Dr. Tranny Assemblee Goo, Green, Firm Tack Lubricant, 16 oz.: Automotive
Amazon.com: Goplus Automatic Transmission Clutch Spring Compressor Removing / Installing Tool Kit: Home Improvement
The top tool is for the lip seals, it really isn't the best tool out there, but with some practice, it works well!
Second one is the lubricant you'll need so that it has some lubricant when you start it up for the first time. I've even shipped a trans halfway cross country and this stuff was still in place! You'll use trans fluid on some things and this on others. Rule of thumb, using more doesn't hurt anything.
Last tool again, isn't the best one out there, but it gets the job done. On the second clutch I had to cut the tabs off an old steel friction plate I had and use it to "even out" the pressure of the compressor so it doesn't bend the springs, and it doesn't reach one of the clutches, but I have a shop press so I put the top of this tool in it and it worked. you have to get creative unless you want to spend lots of money on a high end spring compressor.
100% hands down, this is the best video tutorial and manual I used (and still use):
STOCK DVD VIDEO TRANSMISSION REBUILD OVERHAUL MANUAL 4T65E 4T60-E 4T60E TRANS | eBay
You can honestly do a rebuild first time in a day or two using this manual, it's that comprehensive and easy to follow.
Other than that, we're here for any questions or help you might need! If you don't think you can tackle it, I've got a core I'd rebuild if you wanted to make the drive? lol
